RISSB will be hosting the annual Rail Cyber Security Conference to assist the industry in developing a common understanding and provide an information sharing platform to facilitate good practice. This will provide exclusive support to the rail industry in relation to rail cyber threat that could impact on the operational systems and communications of the Australian Rail Network. This has the potential to result in any of the following:
  • Fatalities
  • Infrastructure damage
  • Threats to safety
  • Disruption to network operations
  • Economic loss to operators, suppliers and the wider Australian community
  • Reputational damage to rail organisations and government
  • Loss of commercial and sensitive information
  • Criminal damage
With the increase in automated systems within the rail industry and with the variety of systems available and being utilised there are multi opportunities to access control systems and components on trains. Recent information has identified the increase in failed or successful attempts to infiltrate the rail network.
