Marvin – Loco mounted multi sensor system for rail condition monitoring – Field Tests

Technologies of interest emerge that, with initial review may then warrant more in-depth research.

An initial engineering review was conducted of the Marvin system, which has been developed by CPE Systems in New Zealand adapting technology currently used in naval operations.

Marvin aims to highlight areas of potential rail stress, and had previously undergone selected trials with KiwiRail.

This review included a literature review and an assessment of the scientific instrumentation, operating principles and the current state of development of Marvin.

ACRI is presently considering field trials to further advance ACRI participant knowledge of Marvin and its potential.
