ACRI recently provided participants with the beta version of its architecture framework tool designed to provide rail operators with a holistic view of the impacts of introducing new technology.

The tool offers not only an operational overview but most importantly a customisable drilling down to prepare rail operators for the impacts on safety and staff competencies that introducing new technology brings. Not only may further training be required, there may also be redundant competencies that the rail operator needs to manage.

An organisational wide tool and one with more specific focus on track worker safety impacts have both been in development.

A range of ACRI participants are currently reviewing and testing the tool to provide detailed feedback for enhancement.
